Version 1.9 Screen capture and Lean IT

My company has finally adopted the Lean IT methodology, something which I have, to a certain degree, already been practicing with my screen capture program and trying hard to promote it within my team. With the current tightening budget, it was then and only then that my software was recognized as a very useful tool to the Amdocs Consulting Division / Software Testing and has since come a long way from it's experimental stage to a pretty refined & polished product.

Tonight in about 2.5 hours I was able to code the local machine time stamping modules, opening generic test.docx for saving in the new docx file format and still have a few more functionalities to get done. Also changed the F10 keyboard button capture to the Print Screen button and to compile, a combination of Alt + Print Screen.

On the to do list, besides the above accomplishments, is to limit the word doc to 1MB pieces (intermediate), ability to choose a new hotkey (simple to intermediate) for screen capture and compiling, possibly a GUI button to perform capturing & compiling, and farther customizing the time stamper since it will probably be used in Amdocs India (virtual time difference compared to CST is 1.5 hrs on Spring Forward / Daylight Savings Time, and 0.5 hrs Fall Back / Standard Time), Israel (maybe, 8 hrs virtual time difference I think), Toronto Ontario Canada (EST 1 hr ahead from CST) and San Ramon California (PST, 2 hrs behind CST).

In general I will standardize them to CST since most of the groups refer to things at CST, open defects and local machine time stamp logs are in CST, and again something customizable / automatic detection just in case it is used anywhere else say Amdocs in Cyprus or Vienna.

On my other to do projects are: Production Support automatic text parser (to extract Order ID and Order Action ID, from OMS the Ordering Management System) for SQL script generator on stacked orders (OMS now allows 2 orders to run simultaneously), Sudoku solver, and a tower defense type strategy game (Xeno Tactic like game, for those who are not familiar) else a turn by turn strategy game (think Deadlock type game), or even an interested ANN Artificial Neural Network entity... a software-organism which learns and adapts to the surroundings it encounters.

I'm also brushing up my Java again as I'm intending to learn how to develop Android Apps and also develop apps in the Windows Mobile arena since these 2 are definitely big contenders with Apple's iPad and iPhone.

Highest number issue resolved

I'm glad to announce that I resolved the highest number jpg file finder issue. Now on to the user manual and publishing my code, the "hard part".

So the issue was that autoit reads the file names as it comes (and the way my program names the images) and the main issue was that if you have more than 10 images, I didn't check the design logic carefully to consider the way it reads first file and then find next file. So what it does is that it reads 1,10,2,20,3,4,... so on and so forth.

The solution was that I needed to insert a temporary variable holder to perform value comparison and that did the trick and I have successfully module and complete system tested it so it now doesn't have any problems reading the image file names.

Just a heads up, the files are numerically and sequentially named so if you have picture1.jpg it will not consider to count it as my parameters which I define when I was coding the software is that you are already using my existing software and naming / numbering system.

Working on Highest number kink

Somehow for some reason the highest number module is acting up and not detecting the actual highest number. I'll probably need to recode that portion and do a value comparison to keep the highest number it sees compared to prior filefinenext module.

Will keep everyone posted on the progress.

Screen Capture V1.8

Need to work more on the code repository when I get the chance.

Basically V1.8 now has new functionalities:
1) Capability to choose your desired JPG quality
2) Toggle between capturing active window only or whole screen
3) Option to delete all image files once one with compiling
4) Automatic highest JPG image discovery
5) Auto detection of existing folder

Am in the final fine tuning / logic debug and complete system test and hopefully will be done tonight. I'm excited since my division is starting to adopt the methodology and software application.

Screen capture V1.7 and other projects

I know it's been a while since I've made an entry so here's an update.

V1.7 has been released, I didn't get the chance to package it as a *.MSI installer and upload the source code since it is an open source type software.

My next 2 projects are: Automatic OCR conversion using AUTOIT and getting up to speed with PHP for my other plans... e-snail mail. I know it sounds like an oxymoron but I feel that it is the only next logical step with regards to printed material, delivered fast and fresh... e-fresh.

Also it's been a while since I've done stop motion animation so I think it's a good time to burn 2 or more hours away for a mere 20 second video clip (we're talking about 15 frames per second for a barely smooth stop motion animation video)

I'll keep everyone posted once I get it done.
